The Film Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania celebrates the 50th anniversary of Earth Day with a virtual screening of “Earth”, a new environmental documentary, and a live panel discussion in partnership with the Green New Deal Coalition and ECO People at Meadville Area Senior High. The screening is the first in a new Virtual Theater program, Film Under Quarantine .
Tickets are $12 per household and can be purchased on the Film Society NWPA Facebook event page https://www.facebook.com/events/583988478885667/ or filmsocietynwpa.org. Proceeds benefit the Film Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania and participating partners.
Once the ticket is purchased, there is 72 hours to view the film via a streaming app or web browser. The film can be watched anytime before 8pm on Wednesday April 22; at that time the Film Society NWPA will host a live Zoom panel discussion about the film.
In developing Film Under Quarantine , Director of Programming John C. Lyons worked with film distribution companies to select new release arthouse, documentary, international and independent films, pairing each with a panel discussion or Q&A.
“Film Under Quarantine gives us the opportunity to spotlight the types of films we used to program for FILM at the Erie Art Museum. New films that would normally play in big cities but skip our region,” said Lyons. “I can’t wait to reconnect with new and familiar audiences via our Zoom panel discussions!”
Film Under Quarantine Schedule
Dates listed are for the live panel discussions. Films available for view prior to 8PM on the panel date. Panel guests to be announced for upcoming films. Links to the panels will be provided on each film’s rental page. Check Film Society NWPA Facebook page for the latest information.
