Keynote Speaker: Lang Elliott
Lang Elliott is a professional nature recordist who established his reputation several decades ago by authoring numerous audio guides to bird and other wildlife sounds, among the most prominent being the Stokes Field Guide to Bird Songs. His work is currently featured in various mobile applications, including the Sibley Guide to Bird Songs and Audubon’s mobile apps and website.
In recent years, Lang has focused on recording and sharing immersive binaural soundscapes, the best of which are featured in his new mobile application “Pure Nature 3D Audio” (currently available only for Apple devices). Lang, who is now in his 70s, plans to devote the next decade or so to publishing stories about his travels, illustrated with sound recordings, podcasts, photographs and more.
Learn more about Lang’s adventures and online publications by visiting his website, musicofnature.com.
Keynote Topic: The Music of Nature
In his presentation, Elliot will share his favorite recordings and tell stories about his visits to wild areas across North America.
You will experience relaxing dawn choruses and beautiful songbird portraits, as well as engaging thunderstorms and soothing wind and waves. And be prepared for a liberal serving of his specialty... the mysterious voices of the night... the magical songs of owls, rails, coyotes, elk, night- jars, frogs, insects, and more.
All registrants receive a CD of Lang Elliott’s Songbird Portraits.
