Asbury Woods is excited to offer two free summer programs: Drop-in and Discover at 11:00 a.m. each Saturday starting June 6 and Insect Safari at 10:30 a.m. each Tuesday starting June 9, 2020.
Asbury Woods has carefully considered the guidelines issued by the CDC as well as the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s recommendations for gatherings of groups and outdoor recreation. Given the ability to spread out among 205 acres of property along with several covered outdoor areas, Asbury Woods is well-placed to make the adjustments outlined in state and federal safety guidelines to host outdoor programming.
Program attendance is limited to 18 pre-registered attendees. Everyone is invited, but we must count all attendees to ensure proper social distancing guidelines are followed. All children and adults attending the programs must pre-register. The events will be scheduled outside rain or shine so please prepare for an outdoor adventure. The Andrew J. Conner Nature Center remains closed to the public, however the trails remain free and open from dawn to dusk.
“Providing a safe, positive experience in nature is always a top priority and we are extremely excited to again offer these programs for families in our region,” says Jennifer Farrar, Executive Director. “Our focus is on providing a meaningful outdoor nature and recreation opportunity for everyone in our community while ensuring the upmost attention is given to the health, safety and well-being for all.”
Drop-in and Discover is presented by UPMC Health Plan and is a weekly hands-on, minds-on, staff-facilitated educational activity that is free and open to the public. Each week will offer a new experience to discover. Drop-in and Discover is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. each Saturday beginning June 6, 2020.
