Every Woman Mannequin Art Exhibit
"Every Woman" is a League of Women Voters/Erie County 2020 Suffrage Centennial Project developed to help Erie County commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendments and to celebrate the diversity of our community. The project is also meant to place a focus on voting and remind all of our citizens that voting is a right, hard fought for by many, but also a responsibility.
Funded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA), through its Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) regional partnership with Erie Arts & Culture, the project moved forward. Supplemental funding was received from Erie County Government and Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority (ECGRA).
Fiberglass mannequins and busts were purchased and through the art of a diverse group of local female artists, their interpretation of women's suffrage is messaged in each artist's selected technique and emotional connection with the subject matter.
"Every Woman" has a story to tell. Mannequins strike a pose and artists deliver a message through design and their personal interpretation of the meaning of the vote, the women's suffrage movement and our American Democracy.
This exhibit will be on display in the Watson Curtze Mansion Ballroom until the end of November 2020.
