VisitErie's 2022 "Cheery Erie Gift Packs" promotion was a great success! Experience-based gifting remains popular among gift givers, so we're pleased to bring the promotion back for 2023.

 A growing trend in holiday gifting? Giving experiences rather than things. More and more, individuals and families are asking for experience-based gifts rather than tangible items, as they tend to be more meaningful and have a more lasting impact than a toy. This holiday season, VisitErie wants to give shoppers an easy, comprehensive list of Erie-based experiences to gift to their loved ones, and plans to run an extensive campaign both in and out of Erie County to promote it.

We’re asking VisitErie Partners to provide a special, experience-based gift that we can promote in this campaign. It could be a class, a stay and play package, a membership, ticket packages for families or couples, special event packages… get creative!

Please read the following, and submit your gift below. 

• In order to participate, your business must be a VistitErie Partner in good standing. 
• There is no requirement for businesses to buy in or partner with one another. The “gift” that you offer can be specially created for this program, or something you sell all the time, but it should be an experience for the recipient. Packages created especially for this promotion sold best in 2022, and included gifts like memberships offered at a discount, hotel stays with add-ons, classes, ticket packages, and attractions packaged at a discount. • When putting together your gift, consider the following based on 2022 results: 
  • Consider offering your gift at a discounted price or with value add-ons. Savings will be noted on the promotion landing page, and these sold best in 2022. To get an idea of last year's packages, click here. (*Note: promotion name and categories subject to change)
  • Gifts must be purchased through your businesses, and must be able to be distributed and mailed as a gift card or certificate. Sales can be done online or via phone/in person, but online works best as many buyers are not in Erie County. 
  • Price points vary, but for gifts not including accommodations, price should be under $100.
  • Gifts will be promoted to VisitErie's core audiences in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo, Youngstown and Erie. Three core audiences are millennial travelers, families with young children, and empty nesters. 
• Gifts should be valid beginning January 1, 2024 for a pre-determined length of time.
