During swimming season (Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day), four beaches at Presque Isle feature "Mobi Mats:" durable, slip resistant mats that make sandy terrain easier to navigate for wheelchairs, strollers, walkers and more. These mats are available at Beaches 1, 3, 8, and 11.
Beach wheelchairs are available to rent free of charge at Beach 8 at the Public Safety Building or the park’s Ranger Station on a first-come, first-served basis (with proof of I.D.). Wheelchairs are offered at Beach 8 from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day and weekends in September from 11 a.m. to 7 pm., and at the Ranger Station year-round from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. The wheelchairs have a weight capacity of 350 lbs.
