During swimming season (Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day), Beaches 8 and 11 at Presque Isle feature ADA-accessible mats on the beach. Beach 11 has a mat that provides access to the water’s edge, and Beach 8’s mat provides access to the sand. Beach wheelchairs are available to rent free of charge at Beach 8 at the Public Safety Building or the park’s Ranger Station on a first-come, first-served basis (with proof of I.D.). Wheelchairs are offered at Beach 8 from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day and weekends in September from 11 a.m. to 7 pm., and at the Ranger Station year-round from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. The wheelchairs have a weight capacity of 350 lbs.
