5th Annual Dash J. Makowski Charity Raffle & BBQ
This is our 5TH YEAR hosting Dash's BBQ, so we decided to change some things up and do everything BIGGER! We've invited Lucy's First Step and Grady's Decision to be our charities this year, as they were our charities at our first Dash's BBQ.
BACKGROUND:
Dash's Charity Raffle and BBQ is a celebration in remembrance of our son, Dash, but our goal is to raise money for LOCAL children's charities. It was local charities that helped us in our time of need, and we want to make sure they can continue to help others.
Dash J. Makowski was born on the 4th of July, 2013, just moments before the fireworks went off. He was born 13 weeks early. Dash lived three weeks before passing away on July 25th. Those three weeks were the hardest days of our lives, but also some of the most rewarding. We were given time with our first born, to know him, to hold him, and to help care for him. We deeply miss him and he has changed our lives forever.
After Dash passed away, we threw a big BBQ at our house for all of our friends and family who were there for us. We wanted to continue that tradition, in loving memory of Dash, and also to give back to the local charities that mean so much to us.
CHARITIES:
This year, 100% of the proceeds from the BBQ will be gifted to Lucy's First Step and Grady's Decision. Lucy's First Step is an organization that covers funeral costs and head stone costs for children, and also offers counseling for grieving parents. Grady's Decision is an organization that provides financial, emotional, and spiritual support to families who welcome a child prematurely and to families who have children that need special medical attention. Both charities are LOCAL and are a tremendous help to families in our community. They are extra special to us because Grady's Decision offered to cover our expenses for Amy to stay at Children's Hospital with Dash, and Lucy's First Step covered the costs for Dash's funeral and headstone.
DETAILS:
Please join us Saturday, September 1st, 2018 at Sparrow Pond Campground 11103 RT 19 North. Doors open at 2:00 PM and BBQ is served at 3:00 PM. This event is kid-friendly! Event ends at 7:00 PM, when main raffle is drawn. Chinese Auction will be drawn right before.
Your $10.00 donation will serve as your admission ticket, which will grant you a meal ticket and drink voucher. Kids 5 and under are free. Your ticket stub will be entered into the drawing for the main raffle! (So if you can't make it, your ticket is still in the drawing for the main raffle!) *Need not be present to win.
Main Raffle:
1st Prize = $2,000
2nd Prize = $500
3rd Prize = $200

**NEW this year... We will be operating a separate drawing (no extra cost), for those who bought a ticket and attend the event, where $50 will be given away every 30 minutes. You need to be present to win this one! Just something extra special for those who come to the event!
