Dog Friendly Beaches and Outdoor Attractions

Presque Isle State Park is Erie’s top attraction for beaches and outdoor recreation and a great place to bring your pet! On guarded beaches, leashed dogs are permitted along the tree line area only. Dogs are allowed on unguarded beaches that are not marked as designated swimming areas. Dogs must never be left unattended, and all dogs must be on leashes no longer than six feet. Bring enough water to share with your thirsty pup, and clean-up bags to promptly pick up anything your dog has left behind.

In addition to the park’s sandy beaches, the 13.5-mile-long Karl Boys Multi-Purpose Paved Trail is a popular place for walking your dog. The trail follows the perimeter of Presque Isle State Park with scenic views of Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie throughout. In addition to the trails, pets are welcome in all picnic areas.

Asbury Woods is a dog-friendly green space with 205 acres of fields, forests, and wetlands. Leashed dogs are permitted on the Greenway Trail, the Guided Trail and Touvell Trails, and at Brown's Farm Barn. Pets are not permitted during events and festivals.

Goodell Gardens and Homestead is an accredited arboretum, public garden, and community gathering place in Edinboro, Pennsylvania with lush gardens, woodland landscapes, and trails. Well-behaved, leashed, vaccinated pets are welcome on the trails where guests will also find waste stations. Only service animals are welcome in the buildings, in formal gardens, and at events.

During the warmer months, many establishments open their outdoor patios to guests with wagging tails! The new menu at Underdog BBQ features mouth-watering barbecue and a special Bark-Uterie board for your well-behaved pup. At Poverty Knob Farmhouse Ales in Waterford, guests can enjoy craft beers and delicious food alongside their dogs indoors or outdoors, any time of year. Their spacious taproom is thoughtfully outfitted with water bowls and doggie bag stations, plus your furry friend can mingle with the owner’s dogs who roam freely inside the brewery. Well-mannered dogs are warmly welcomed inside Black Monk Brewery, provided their barks are kept to a hush. Here, water bowls and tasty treats await canine companions. Other establishments offering dog-friendly outside seating, complimentary water bowls, and the occasional treat include Cloud 9 Wine Bar & Restaurant, The Skunk & Goat, The Cork 1794, Romolo Chocolates, Sara’s, The Que Abides Pit Stop, Rosco’s Sports Bar & Grill, Erie Ale Works, and 6 Pack House of Beer. Bark in the Park

Each summer, the Erie SeaWolves host Bark in the Park-themed games, where guests can bring their well-mannered, leashed dogs to UPMC Park for a ballgame and special promotions. Each game features dog-themed in-game entertainment and dogs will have the comforts of a designated "Poop Zone" to handle their business. After each Bark at the Park, dogs and owners are invited down to the field to run the bases. This unique experience of running the bases on a professional baseball field is something you and your dog will never forget! For the comfort of all ballpark guests, select seating sections will be designated as dog-free areas. During the SeaWolves’ 2024 season, dog owners can bring their pets to the games on June 5 and August 28.
