11th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta
Great fun for all ages! Get a team together to create your best cardboard boat made of only corrugated cardboard and sealed with any of the following: tape, caulk, glue, latex paint, or varnish. Teams will race 2-by-2 for the Fastest Time Award and be split into 4 divisions - Kids Crews (12&under), Teen Crews (13-18), Adult Crews (19+), and Mixed Ages. There are also judge’s awards for Most Creative and Most Dramatic Sinking! The Crowd Favorite trophy goes to the boat that collects the most donations in their buckets (at the Raffle/50/50 tent) over the course of the day.
Entry fee to create a boat and race in the regatta is $50 per boat and includes 2 shirts per fee. Additional shirts may be ordered or purchased at the merch tent the day of the event. Registration/sign-ups, regatta guidelines and building tips, and sponsorship info, and more can be found at our website: https://bayfrontcenter.org/news-events/cardboard-boat-regatta/
Not participating in the races? Anyone can come watch for free! Come out and cheer on your favorite cardboard crew! Food, drinks, merch, and raffles will be available all day at the event. Tours of the BMC building, including viewing of the Schooner Porcupine, will be open throughout the day. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on and enjoy a nice event by the bayfront!
We are located directly behind the library, next to where the LETTIE G HOWARD and US BRIG NIAGARA are docked at the Erie Maritime Museum.
