Victorian Halloween at the Watson-Curtze Mansion
Join the History Center for an enchanting Victorian Halloween experience with Victorian traditions, a fabulous mansion, plenty of interactive displays and more! Mark your calendars for Sunday, Oct. 15.
A storyteller will be in each room of the Watson-Curtze Mansion to share some traditions that are Victorian in nature, and some still exist. Visitors will hear historical accounts that are interactive, fun, spooky and/or whimsical regarding Victorian traditions that deal with windows, mirrors, portraits, hair wreaths (yes, hair wreaths), games and much more.
The Prisoner’s Dock is back! It dates back to the 1800s in an Erie courthouse and is in our collection, thanks to Harvey B. Himrod.
It and many other items will be on display in the Watson-Curtze Mansion with stories of murder and mayhem. The Prisoner’s Dock exhibit shares the story of prisoner Henry Francisco. He and his wife agreed to a joint suicide with poison, but only the wife died. Hmmm.
We have a reduced admission price of just $2, thanks to gold sponsors JET/FOX/YourErie and Women Creating a Legacy, along with bronze sponsor Erie Federal Credit Union.
