Café 7-10 provides extraordinary bakery delights that are made with love. Creating a sweet atmosphere that keeps the downtown business community, college students, and visitors to the City of Erie wanting to come back to experience a “Dessert Retreat'' away from the office, campus, or home. When visiting this cafe, you can expect to find southern favorites such as 7up Pound Cake, Sweet Potato Pie, Banana Pudding and Cheesecake. In addition, the hometown favorite signature dessert, Banana Peanut Butter Chocolate Bread.
Café 7-10 is Erie’s first black owned, woman owned, coffee and dessert shop built and run by Mother-Daughter Sweets Team, Thelma Mae Blanks (Maker and Baker) and Daughter Mabel Howard (Marketer and Owner). The business officially opened to the public on July 10th, 2019. The name of the business was brought to life in honor of the business owner’s Mother (Thelma Mae Blanks), whose birthday is on July 10th. Hence the location (7 W. 10th), and the opening/ closing time (7:10 a.m. to 7:10 p.m.) of the business Café 7-10.
Cafe 7-10 is a safe and welcoming space that is known for building community, while building business. The café plays a very important role in building the local poetry community, with a commitment to hosting nearly 100 poetic events each year to include but not limited to open mics and workshops.
